00 is not within my financial range right now, so I turned down all plumbing offers and started to dig my own water line. With the roof now painted for the up-incoming Monsoon season, I could concentrate on the broken water line problem. Then, more cha-cha doodle came my way. Coming out of Home Depot, I noticed a bolt hanging out of the bottom of my truck. The restraining bolt on my leaf springs had lost it's nut, and was almost out. A quick trip to the mechanics on Saturday and he hammered it mostly back in. But no nut to hold it on. So I took the truck in today, Monday, so he could jack it up and fix it. Truckless, I've got all the time I need to dig, dig, dig, dig, dig . . . One foot doesn't sound like a lot. But whew! It sure is.

There's a reason this car is called the "Tank Car"; its because the car is powered by a former US Army battle tank engine. The engine is a continental AV-1790-5B, a SOHC aircooled V12 with a displacement of 1790CI or 29333cc, normally aspirated. It is an engine that was equipped on the M47 Patton Tank, the main battle tanks used by the American Army in the '50's. The maximum output of the engine during its tank days was 799HP, but when transferring it to this car the intake and exhaust system was simplified, making it 900HP. The maximum torque is a mind boggling 1500lbs-ft, or 1497.2 ft-lb. The chassis is full original, and the classic style aluminum body is mounted on a steel ladder frame. In the front is a parallel leading link rigid suspension using 1/4 ellipse leaf springs and a dead axle from a ford truck.
